Screamin’ Susie’s opened its doors in October 2005 and is owned by Susie and Brent Tell. With a name like ours don’t expect your typical quiet and serene scrapbook store. Screamin’ Susie’s has bright colors and louder, upbeat music. Hit your frequent buyer reward and we’ll ring the bell and cheer for you! We just love to have fun and want you to enjoy your visit with us!
“Screamin” Susie has lived in Whittier most of her life and seems to know everyone! If you aren’t a friend of hers when you come into the store, you will be by the time you leave. She has been scrapbooking and stamping “a long time”…way before acid free materials, personal trimmers and tape runners.
Brent (a.k.a. Mr. Susie) is not an “accomplished” scrapbooker or card maker, but he does try to keep up on the new products and techniques. Usually, you will find him in the office paying bills, working on the website or researching new products…but if you get your frequent buyer reward he’ll come out and cheer for you.
How did they end up in this business? Well, Susie has always loved scrapbooking and stamping and used to say that she would like to own a Hallmark store someday. As life often does, her career path took many different directions with time spent on the 1984 Olympic Committee and almost 20 years in the music industry. Finally, in 2005, they were both laid off within a few months of each other. Determined not to go back to the corporate world they decided to “do something fun”. Since Susie loved to scrapbook and make cards and Brent had a background in business and retail, they thought that a scrapbook and rubber stamp store might be a great fit. It’s not exactly a Hallmark store, but there is a lot of paper!
Our mission is to help as many people as possible discover scrapbooking and card making and have fun doing it. That’s why we have at least one beginner class every month and welcome “newbies” into our store with open arms. We’ll try not to put you off with “buzz words” and just help you finish the project you want to start.

Why did we name the store Screamin’ Susie’s? It’s sort of a long story that’s easier to tell in person. So stop by the store and ask.
